Sho Madjozi, Ami Faku And Black Motion To Headline MTN Bushfire 2023

MTN Bushfire has just announced the incredible line-up for their upcoming festival from 26th-28th May 2023. As always, the festival will showcase a mix of well-known global artists as well as up-and-coming talents from around the world. The festival promises to be an experience of diverse music styles and genres, with exciting new artists to be announced in the coming weeks.

This year, MTN Bushfire boasts a powerhouse female line-up headlined by Afro-Cuban-French twins Ibeyi, South Africa’s Sho Madjozi, and Angolan singer Pongo. The line-up also features the soulful melodies of Lesotho’s Maleh and the soaring voice of Eswatini’s Velemseni, as well as rising talent iYA and South African gem Ami Faku.

Festival-goers can also expect the highly respected rapper Stogie T, veteran group Black Motion, and pop culture icon Jack Parow to perform. Zimbabwe’s Bantu Spaceship/s will bring their Afro-Electronic sounds, while the Mozambican band Ghorwane will celebrate their 40th anniversary with their own blend of traditional music and Afro-Pop.

Adding to the diverse and eclectic line-up, MTN Bushfire is proud to include artists that will be touring on the Igoda Southern African Festival Network. Chad’s AfrotroniX, Fayazer from the African islands, and Cape Verdean Scúru Fitchádu create a unique blend of sounds that reflect their cultural and regional influences.

Comedy at MTN Bushfire this year will feature internationally renowned stand-up comedian Daliso Chaponda and thrilling acrobatic performances from The CIRK, Johannesburg’s premier circus performance company.

Apart from music, festival-goers can enjoy cultural performances, family-friendly activities, dance, and the popular artisanal Barn Marketplace, Global Food Village, and KidZone. The festival’s Bring Your Fire Zone also provides an interactive space for social and environmental advocacy.

Named “Top African festival” by the BBC and one of the “7 African music festivals you really have to see” by CNN, MTN Bushfire promises to be a family-friendly, eclectic celebration of some of the finest music in Africa and beyond.
